There’s a place of quiet stillness ‘tween the light and shadows reach
Where the hurting and the hopeless seek everlasting peace
Words of men and songs of angels whisper comfort bittersweet
Mending grief and life eternal where joy and sorrow meet

There’s a place the lost surrender and the weary will retreat
Full of grace and mercy tender in times of unbelief
For the wounded there is healing, strength is given to the weak
Broken hearts find love redeeming where joy and sorrow meet

There’s a place of thirst and hunger where the roots of faith grow deep
And there is rain and rolling thunder when the road is rough and steep
There is hope in desperation there is victory in defeat
At the cross of restoration where joy and sorrow meet

There is a place where hope remains
In crowns of thorns and crimson stains
And tears that fall on Jesus’ feet
Where joy and sorrow meet

its an i miss andrew night.
weve been back in the states for over a month now and its certainly been a month of blessings. as soon as i got back things were busy and fun and there has always been plenty to do, plenty of people to be with, and its only every once in awhile that i take a moment to sit and think about life. zambia is far away. literally, yeah. but it also seems like it was a long time ago when it was really just over a month. i guess i dont really have any well-formed, deep, profound thoughts to share. its just an i miss andrew night. look at him. hes so cute.

“dear God. thank you for all the fun we have. thank you for Jesus and taking care of our bodies. thank you for mommy to obey. thank you for our cars not to crash. and thank you for all the pretty pictures. in Jesus’ name, amen.”

i am sitting in a cute little cafe in amsterdam with a few of the girls. it’s very cold and my toes might fall off soon. amsterdam now has dr. pepper! it’s a beautiful place but being in europe usually makes me wish i was in italy instead. the time we have traveled so fat has been 28 hours and 15 minutes. can’t wait to be home!

tomorrows thanksgiving. america is actually the only country that celebrates thanksgiving. (i say this to clarify because some people seem to think that squanto was a superhero that helped pilgrims all over the world.) so i havent really been thinking about it much, other than when we get home tomorrow night, it will still be during thanksgiving break. but as im sitting here in the nairobi airport, im thinking about thanksgiving, and here are some of the things i am thankful for: andrew kwaapa. daisies. fanta orange. african babies. laughter. best friends. not having malaria. not drowning. songs. green. love. clouds. jeans. toilet paper. showers. peoplewatching. awkward moments. encouraging letters. stick figures. this semester. elephants. wheat bread. flashlights. citenges. three months without seeing girls with huge flowers in their hair. or rainboots (on their feet, not in their hair.) prayer. salvation. and so much more.
